At this Stage of Life… As a society, we are not very comfortable with the notion of aging, and not comfortable with the older people among us. My intention is to change a mind or two, especially for younger people who may have fears about getting older, by showing it as just one stage of life that has plusses and minuses, like every stage of life!
A retired peer counselor who is now happily engaged in playing classical piano, writing poems and songs, and enjoying the city as a "free agent." As I head dangerously close to age 80, I find myself fascinated by what I've learned about aspects of growing older -- most of which I could never have guessed, and many, if not most, are good. It's this fact I hope to share with younger bloggers ... that growing old only looks "bad" from the point of view of youth, but that when you're actually there, it's quite manageable and has its very palpable rewards.

Delightful! I think this is my favorite Ellen poem to date!
Happy to amuse. And yes, I had to bathe my face in my famous honey, purple eggplant and rice vinegar mixture for an hour to stave off another onslaught!

I think I said thank you but it’s not showing up here … so just in case, Denny, thanks so very much for the nice compliment!

Oh, my pleasure, it’s such a delight to read. I’ll check my spam folder, sometimes comments wind up there.

Ellen, I love this poem! I can just see you smiling as you wrote it and adding an extra special curve to the wrinkles you’ve earned over the years.
